Fast fashion is a vicious circle. In the shop window we see a beautiful T-shirt for a few euros. The mannequin is wearing it together with well-fitting pants and a patterned jacket. And we immediately think “what would I look like in the same outfit?”; and we’re already in the fitting room and we can’t get enough of seeing how great it looks together. In a few minutes we leave the store with a bag full of clothes. It won’t be until two months later that we find out that the T-shirt only looks good with those exact pants, and none of the ones we’ve had at home before; and that the jacket is only suitable for special occasions, therefore most of the time it’s hanging by the end of the closet. And we get the feeling again that we have nothing to wear, we go to the shops, and the whole scenario repeats itself.
And that’s exactly what slow fashion is trying to fight, ie fashion focused on fighting the consumerist way of life and consumption of clothing; also looking for ways to wear some pieces all the time and in various combinations, and which prefers quality over quantity. For those who are just starting out in slow fashion, it can feel a little restrictive and boring at first; and that’s when any inspiration comes in handy. Today, I will show you to four of my favourite influencers on Instagram, which show on their profiles that even ethical, sustainable and slow fashion can be fun and diverse.

Rýchla móda je začarovaný kruh. Vo výlohe obchodu vidíme krásne tričko za pár eur. Figurína ho má oblečené spolu s dobre padnúcimi nohavicami a vzorovaným sakom. A nám hneď prebehne hlavou myšlienka “ako by som ja vyzerala v rovnakom outfite?”; a už sme v skúšobnej kabínke a nevieme sa vynadívať, ako super to spolu vyzerá. O pár minút už vychádzame von z obchodu s taškou plnou oblečenia. Až o dva mesiace doma zistíme, že tričko vyzerá dobre len s tými nohavicami a žiadne z tých, ktoré sme doma mali už pred tým, sa s ním nedajú kombinovať; a že sako je vhodné len na špeciálne príležitosti, preto väčšinu času visí zastrčené na konci skrine. A my opäť nadobudneme pocit, že nemáme čo nosiť, zamierime do obchodov, a celý scenár sa opakuje.
A práve s tým sa snaží bojovať slow fashion, teda pomalá móda zameraná na boj s konzumným spôsobom života a spotreby oblečenia, ktorá hľadá možnosti, ako nosiť niektoré kúsky stále dookola a v rôznych kombináciách, a ktorá dáva prednosť kvalite nad kvantitou. Pre tých, ktorí so slow fashion iba začínajú, môže byť spočiatku trochu obmedzujúca a nudná; a presne vtedy sa zíde akákoľvek inšpirácia.
